The Crown of the Golden Triangle

Nestled in the heart of Denver’s city center is a new luxury residential tower project. The lighting approach to achieve a high quality, visually enriched space is by focusing light on the architectural elements of the project while keeping the occupant in mind and providing low-glare lighting solutions.

The materiality and texture palettes throughout the spaces are enhanced through hidden, integrated lighting elements. Illuminated niche shelving in the speakeasy bar, backlit baffles at the entrance canopy, aimable accents to highlight apartment numbers accompanied with recessed steplights in the corridors, and art lighting in the main lobby highlight the architectural markers of the space.

The active fitness rooms of the building use indirect, glare free lighting solutions to maintain visual comfort and visibility. The yoga room has no direct lighting overhead the workout area. Indirect cove lighting above the mirror wall and a low brightness curved linear lensed downlight sits around the perimeter of the room to achieve suitable illumination levels. The large fitness area uses indirect cove lighting as the main source of light, supplemented by semi-specular downlights to reduce glare.

Denver has a strict U0 policy for outdoor lighting.  The terrace lighting includes down directed step lights in planters with bollards along the path to achieve minimum lighting criteria. The outdoor pool deck achieves the minimum footcandle requirements by cleverly integrating cylinder downlights to the trellis patio structure and full cut-off quiet bollards amongst the planters.

Controls are kept as a simple and appropriate solution. Scene controllers for the main amenity spaces such as the lobby, outdoor terraces, and fitness room are applied. The controls throughout the corridors are on a time clock system to reduce energy use.
