Innovative daylighting in the heart of silicon valley

Clanton & Associates designed the Daylighting and Campus Site Lighting for the Apple Campus 3, located in Silicon Valley. This project is an 18-acre business park that has three interconnected buildings, four levels of office space (770,000 sq. ft.) and 2 levels of underground parking. The Campus amenities include open floor plans, pedestrian pathways connecting all facilities, roof top gardens, and a 500-person amphitheater.

Our daylighting design studied multiple façade sections to provide shading and reflected light deep into the open office spaces. The cantilevered floor slabs that create the curved form of the building extend and taper based on the orientation of the façade to optimize the shading, while minimizing costs. Daylight modeling included annual, climate-based daylighting metrics for LEED v4. Project achieved LEED-NC Platinum I.
