Sustainability and innovation in one of the worlds most efficient embassies

The US Embassy Innovation Center in Helsinki is one of the most energy efficient embassy buildings in the world.

The lighting design used Department of Energy New Generation Luminaire winners exclusively for all LED lighting in the building, in order to showcase the best of peer reviewed technology. In addition, an OLED pendant was installed to highlight this emerging technology.

Daylight dimming, occupancy sensors, and scene controls minimizes the use of electric light in this 100 year old daylight building and allows occupant tuning.

“It will be the U.S. government’s first fully solid state lighting building, deploying exclusively LED and OLED technologies, a demonstration of the United States’ strong commitment to clean tech.”
