Updating and celebrating I.M. Pei's historic 16th Street Mall.
Light reveals space and form and is the medium by which pedestrians experience the urban environment. Lighting fosters visibility, creating a safe and secure environment while also enhancing the aesthetic character of the 16th Street Mall.
Lighting is a critical component for creating a vibrant and safe nighttime experience for pedestrians along the 16th Street Mall in Denver. Clanton & Associates worked with the Downtown Denver Partnership to revitalize and recreate the original lighting design intent, originally developed by Howard Brandston, along the Mall; while also updating the lighting technology, improving ease of maintenance, and reducing the cost of replacement for the custom pedestrian lighting along the historic mall.
