Carefully designed to improve safety and ease of use, the Boulder Junction Bridge is a state-of-the-art roadway lighting project.
The project included cutting edge solid state roadway, pedestrian and bollard lighting intentionally designed for pedestrian, cyclist, and vehicle safety.
The roadway and pedestrian lighting for the Boulder Junction project used lighting technology which was selected for its excellent color quality, low glare, advanced control features and reduced energy use. Compared to conventional street lighting, the system uses 30% less energy – saving the City of Boulder thousands of dollars and increasing city sustainability and resiliency. Reduced maintenance costs and tuning of light levels lead to additional savings making Boulder Junction one of the most cost effective bridges in the city. This high-quality lighting system improves visibility at night for pedestrians, residents, cyclists, and motorists alike. All of the lighting for the junction is controlled and metered with a wireless lighting control system that is interfaced with the City Traffic Signal network.
