Justin has worked with Clanton & Associates in several capacities, beginning in 2012 as a project partner, along with the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute and the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance, on the Seattle LED Adaptive Lighting Study. Again in 2023, while working with University of Alaska Fairbanks, he engaged with Clanton on a partnership with Cordova Electric Cooperative to develop a lighting efficiency testbed in town of Cordova, Alaska. In 2024, he formally joined Clanton & Associates as a Senior Planning and Policy Manager.
Justin Sternberg is a clean energy and ocean technologies entrepreneur. He has founded and led early-stage companies developing novel renewable energy and emerging energy efficiency technologies. In 2014, he led the first private sector deployment of seaweed mariculture in Alaska, including co-development of permitting protocols with state agencies that led to the first commercial hatcheries and farms in the state. Justin subsequently founded several ocean-based innovation and entrepreneurship programs, before joining the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2021 as the founding Director of the Alaska Blue Economy Center (ABEC). He holds a Masters of Business Administration in Sustainable Management from the Presidio Graduate School.
