Nancy founded Clanton & Associatges in 1981. Nancy speaks throughout the nation on topics relating to sustainable design, energy efficiency, and light pollution, and has been an instructor at the University of Colorado at Boulder.

Nancy obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree in Architectural Engineering with an emphasis in Illumination from the University of Colorado at Boulder. She is a registered Professional Engineer in the states of Colorado and Oregon. She is a Fellow of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IES), International Association of Lighting Designers, Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) and the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
